正因为LED光源自身没有红外线、紫外线，因此LED光源自身没有辐射散热功能，LED照明灯具的散热途径只能通过与LED灯珠板密切组合的散热器来导出热量。散热器必须具备热传导、热对流、热辐射的功能。
